My friend told me, him and this girl are dating but are not in a relationship. He said they don't have sex, but I know they kiss. He use to like me(we kissed), but we decided to be friends. He tried to come over to my apartment at 2 am, but I didn't allow that because it was too late and he is dating her. So what is the difference? I never heard of dating and not being in a relationship or leading to one.

Some people "date" in that they see each other and can have romantic and somewhat sexual relations, but are not exclusive. When it's exclusive, then, I believe, it becomes a relationship. Don't ask me to make sense of it, I don't believe in it, myself, but it's what a lot of people do.

I want to join a dating site but am afraid of what's out there. I would like to meet a quality person for a long term relationship. Any suggestions on ones you'd recommend? Am in Los Angeles if that makes a difference. I had put up a nice one on Craigslist but got some immature responses.

I asked the guy that I have been seeing for a month if we were in a relationship and he said that he didn't want to be in a relationship for a while and that he wanted to get to know me better first. At the same time he told me that he was exclusively dating me and no one else? What is the difference between exclusively dating and being in a relationship? Does this mean we are boyfriend/girlfriend?
Best reply by Cat J:
It means - don't worry about it. Being "in a relationship" is pointless if you rush into it. Remember the saying "fools rush in"?
A month of "just dating" is nothing in the long run. It sounds like you're pretty young, I'm guessing. I can't tell my sisters this enough - pressure a boy into becoming your "boyfriend" and he'll lose interest. When he's ready, he'll tell you - and it's usually in a very romantic way because he's smitten. And if he's not, you'll see the signs loud and clear and be much better off not in a relationship.
Best advice, just enjoy and make the most out of every moment with him.

How can you tell the difference between just wanting to be their friend and whether or not you like them ( as in want to date the person)
what is worse, being said no to as a friend, or being said no to as in for dating) and what's a good site for dating?

Dating your physically attracted to the person and friends you're not really. You would have no interest in starting anything with this person if you're just friends. Try this site

You know, on myspace and facebook, there is a distinction between looking for "dating" and "a relationship." I just want to know the difference. Because seriously, when you ask a girl out on a date, doesnt she assume you want a relationship? Because, if not, then she should not be mad when you break up with her and just say that you were just interested in dating. Basically what is the purpose of dating if you aren't interested in a long term relationship? someone is going to get hurt in the end.

girls expect more out of a guy. and we want to enjoy guys. and when you ask a girl out, that is consideredd boyfriend and girlfriend. so if you want to just "date" the girl, you should find a girl the wants to do the same thing. if yall like how the date went, yall can call each other up for another one. and if not, she wont asume that you want to date her but you have to make it clear to her before you go on the date with her that you are just dating right now. i hope this helped!
